Training for the Lincoln, Nebraska Marathon
This year my Spring marathon was the one in Lincoln, Nebraska on May 6, 2007. I started training for this marathon in January.
In the fall of 2006, I completed two half marathons and increased my normal weekly mileage to around 40-43 miles per week, with a long run of 10-14 miles.
My training plan was to run a very long run (16-20 miles) every other week. Also every 3rd week, I reduced mileage to aid in recovery. Since I had a 16 week training cycle and a very solid base, this should give me plenty of time to train for the distance, while not overly taxing my aging body.
